I must warn you, this is going to be the grumpy post. Even though I really liked the trip and would definitely repeat it, I would lie if I said that it was perfect. Of course, nothing is ever perfect, but maybe pointing out some mistakes will help to improve and make future trips even better.
Probably the most annoying thing in this trip was never-ending disrespect by always being late. There was not a single time when we actually left the exact minute we planned, and, if I remember correctly, our closest time was 13 minutes late. Possibly, if someone was left alone for the first time he (or she) was late, no one would have been late again, but since everyone has been so forgiving, students did not care about others' time too much. I have always believed that being late is super rude and it damages person's image immediately and irreparably. It was also quite funny and sad at the same time how leaving times were changed without letting everyone know. And I am not talking just about one person not knowing about the change - I am talking about situations when two, three or even four rooms (which probably accounts to half of the entire group, doesn't it?) were not informed. Once again, disrespect for others is in the air. It is slightly ironic that during the lectures we were threatened not to be late, we were told lots of about being professional, but apparently, most of people did not learn their lesson. However, to be completely honest, example has not always been the best as well.
Another annoying thing was the rooms at the hotels. I certainly did not expect a 5 star hotel, but what we got was a bit ridiculous given the price we paid for the trip. The first room my 3 friends and I got was so tiny, that it was only possible to open one suitcase at a time, because there was no space for others! And even opening the one would cause quite a lot of inconvenience as it would block most of the way... Oh and speaking of hotels, the breakfast (especially at the first one) was absolutely horrible. But I have heard it is just the way Italians eat, so I will not expand on this one.
And finally, I strongly believe that we spent way too much time on coaches. Taking train from Rome to Firenze would have been much faster and more convenient, and flight back to the UK from there rather then getting back to the capital would have saved us a lot of time! This way we could have seen more of gorgeous Florence and feel less tired.
I feel like it is about time I stopped complaining. Overall, as I have mentioned before, it was a really nice trip, but it is healthy to look back at it objectively and try to eliminate as much of the flaws as possible next year!
